Our 10 Favorite Gaming Headsets for Every System

Our 10 Favorite Gaming Headsets for Every System

I complain about “gamer” aesthetics pretty often, but in the case of the JBL Quantum One, the ostentatious design and lighting are well worth it. This headset is very expensive, but it’s for people who have full-on gaming desktop setups and want the best, most immersive sound while gaming (or listening to music while they work, like me). First and foremost, the sound is just incredible. The broad, expansive soundstage and deep rumbly bass make it perfect for video games or consuming any kind of media.

At this price, you get a few more features on top of great audio. These headphones offer spatial audio, so when you set them up with the JBL software, they track the position of your head. If you turn away from your computer, the volume goes way down. The spatial audio also makes for a killer, sometimes overstimulating, gaming experience. They also feature active noise cancellation and a super-clear boom mic. The only thing I don’t like? The exterior design. If they were a bit more understated, these would be my take-everywhere, wear-everyday headphones.

Corded only. Works with PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, Switch, and PC. Spatial audio only on PC.

The Best Pizza Ovens to Make the Perfect Slice

The Best Pizza Ovens to Make the Perfect Slice

There’s a reason why pizza is the menu choice of picky preschoolers, hungry teenagers, and discerning foodies alike. With enough cheese, tomato sauce, and arugula, homemade pizzas are a complete meal. They’re irresistible, easy to make, and customizable for a wide range of dietary preferences.

Until recently, an aspiring pizzaiolo had no choice but to crank up their kitchen oven to the standard 450 degrees. Now, the best portable pizza ovens can heat up as high as 900 degrees—the perfect temperature for making a crisp, Neapolitan-style pizza in minutes. For the past three years, I’ve memorized recipes, perfected my dough-tossing technique, and made hundreds of pizzas. You don’t have to limit yourself to pizza, either; I’ve seared steaks and pan-fried broccoli in ’em. Here are my—and my waistline’s—favorites. For those of you with limited access to outdoor spaces, I’ve included an indoor option and an oven that fits on a small deck, balcony, or patio.

The Best Running Gear for Hot Summer Days

The Best Running Gear for Hot Summer Days

As the runner’s rule of thumb goes, you should always dress like it’s 20 degrees warmer than it is. That’s why you see racers in singlets and shorts when it’s 45 degrees out: Once your furnace gets going, winter turns to spring and spring turns to summer.

But what do you do when it’s already summer? When a heat wave sets records seemingly every month, and when the humidity rises along with the temperature, making the ambient air feel like an oppressive sweater? Well, for one, you reset your expectations. You’re going to be slower, and everything’s going to feel harder. You should also think a little more about your running gear—make sure you have enough water and are as comfortable as possible.

There’s no across-the-board truism for running in the heat, and acclimatization is a hell of a drug: Some folks don’t leave the house without enough water for an overnight camping trip, while some camels can happily lope along under the blazing sun for an hour without noticing. Either way, make sure you’re prepared, from the best shoes to sunscreen to hydration packs. Anything to stay off the dreadmill, right?
